PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION

ApeLance is set to transform the freelance landscape by offering a secure, transparent, and efficient platform powered by ApeChain. By ensuring instant payments, confidentiality, and a robust verification system, ApeLance provides a reliable and innovative solution for freelancers and clients worldwide.

Problem: All platforms use third-party payment systems. Traditional freelance platforms charge high fees (up to 40%) and delay payments, which can be a big problem for freelancers. If these payment systems are not available in a particular country, freelancers can face difficulties, including the risk of not receiving their payments. Even when these systems do work, they often charge very high fees. In Asian regions, many freelancers do gig work on the side, and their earnings are typically low. For example, if I complete a $50 job and have to pay a $10 fee, it feels unfair to me.

The Solution: ApeLance Payments in ApeCoin are instant and transparent, significantly reducing the risk of non-payment or delayed payment. Smart contracts hold funds in escrow and release them upon the completion of predefined milestones, ensuring that both parties fulfill their obligations.Payment delays can disrupt the cash flow for freelancers.

Bidding System

Sometimes, employers may not know how to manage their projects or who to hire. In such cases, they can simply post their project on Apelance. People who have the skills and knowledge to complete the job can then submit their own bids, including the price and the time needed to finish the work. This is a unique feature not found on any other freelance platform. Additionally, by setting a budget, clients can quickly find the right person for the job from a wide range of options.

• New User Acquisition: By targeting freelancers and clients globally, ApeLance will attract new users to the ApeCoin ecosystem, including those who have not previously engaged with crypto. ApeLance will encourage active participation from the ApeCoin community, including developers, designers, marketers, and other freelancers, fostering a vibrant and collaborative environment. The platform will help businesses find skilled freelancers quickly and efficiently, driving economic activity within the ApeCoin ecosystem.

• NFT Verification: The NFT verification feature will incentivize NFT holders to use and hold ApeCoin, increasing engagement within the ApeCoin ecosystem.

• Long-Term Viability: The decentralized and transparent nature of ApeLance ensures its sustainability without reliance on a central authority, aligning with the principles of decentralization and self-sovereignty central to the ApeCoin community.

The 0.1% of the market we are targeting amounts to $500 million, representing the total sales between employers and employees. We will generate revenue by taking a commission from these transactions.

Challenges in Asia The reason for focusing on Asian countries is that they are often ranked low in the freelance market because of payment issues. As I mentioned earlier, the payment systems either don’t work, or banks don’t support them. The few systems that do work charge high fees. Even though we all live on the same planet, the opportunities are different. Just think about it—there isn’t even a single McDonald’s or Starbucks in our country. That’s why I want to solve at least one problem that Asians face.

Our goal is to create a blockchain-based P2P freelance platform to capture 0.1% of this rapidly growing market. Unpredictable events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent isolation have demonstrated that people’s lives are not fixed. The next generation dreams of working on diverse projects from anywhere in the world rather than settling in one place.

BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM

We plan to spend 20% of commissions rewarding our most active users and 10% to support initiatives of ApeCoin DAO. Our goal for the next five years is to attract 0.1% of the market, which is estimated $2.5 million. The 20% of commissions allocated for rewarding our most active users will be distributed based on a point system. Points will be awarded for activities such as completing projects, receiving high ratings, and contributing to community discussions. These points can be redeemed for ApeCoin or used to access premium features. The 10% allocated to support ApeCoin DAO initiatives will be used to fund projects and events that align with the DAO’s goals, such as educational programs, community meetups, and development grants. Detailed criteria and application processes for these funds will be developed in collaboration with the DAO. Additionally, users will receive a Job NFT Badge, and job ads and information for NFT-certified users within the Yuga Labs ecosystem will appear at the top of listings. Similarly, Mocaverse NFTs will also rank high.

Regarding the use of ApeCoin trademarks, we do not expect to maintain full ownership rights to the content or IP created as a result of the approval of our proposal. We anticipate that any content produced will be owned by the ApeCoin DAO, aligning with the principles of decentralization and community ownership.

OVERALL COST

Total amount requested from the ApeCoin Ecosystem Fund = $147,000

Two tranches of funding have been requested: Upon approval, the initial phase would require $67,000 to cover platform development and launch expenses. The second tranche, at the start of Milestone 3, would require $80,000 for marketing, monitoring, maintenance, and other miscellaneous costs.

Technical Development:

1. Smart Contract Development: $3,000 Developing the smart contracts that will power the decentralized freelance marketplace, ensuring security and functionality.
2. Integration with ApeChain: $4,000 Integrating the platform with the ApeChain blockchain, including wallet integration and transaction processing.
3. Security Audits: $20,000 Conducting comprehensive security audits to identify and fix vulnerabilities in the smart contracts and platform.
4. Blockchain Node Setup and Maintenance: $10,000 Setting up and maintaining the necessary blockchain nodes to support the platform’s operations.

User Interface Design: 5. UX/UI Design: $5,000 Designing the user interface for the platform, focusing on user experience and ease of use. 6. Front-End Development: $10,000 Developing the front-end of the platform, including responsive design for different devices. 7. Testing and Iteration: $5,000 Conducting user testing and iterating on the design based on feedback to ensure a seamless user experience.

Deployment and Launch: 8. Deployment Costs: $10,000 Deploying the platform on the ApeChain mainnet, including final testing and optimization. 9. Launch Marketing: $50,000 Marketing activities to promote the platform launch, including social media campaigns, influencer partnerships, and press releases.

Monitoring and Maintenance (1 year): 10. Ongoing Maintenance: $10,000 Continuous monitoring and maintenance of the platform to ensure stability, performance, and security. This includes server costs, bug fixes, and updates. Miscellaneous Expenses: 11. ABSTRACT

This proposal seeks to extend the success of ApeCoin’s participation in WebX2024 by strategically leveraging our presence in the Asian blockchain market. Building upon the WebX sponsorship, we aim to enhance the visibility and adoption of ApeChain within the Asian blockchain communities through a comprehensive series of events, including IVS Crypto, Korea Blockchain Week, Token2049 Singapore, DAOTOKYO, ETHTOKYO, CoinFest Asia. These events will serve as pivotal platforms for showcasing ApeCoin’s innovations and fostering connections within the regional blockchain ecosystem.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this proposal is to position ApeCoin as the web3 culture token to power the broader web3 ecosystem. This proposal aims to secure 750,000 APE to acquire NFTs which represent various cultures and also with a certain level of influence in web3. The acquired NFTs will be managed via a community-governed vault, voted by the sister DAO members, and open for $APE holders to utilize the IP with potential grants in $APE in the near future. The initial deployment of $APE for NFT acquisition will be operated and decided by the Committee.

Our 5-step approach to execute this proposal are as follows:

1. Purchase the selected NFTs using the grant in $APE
2. ApeCoin holders owning the governance rights of the usage or moblization of the acquired NFTs (voting through a sister DAO)
3. (Sister DAO Process) ApeCoin DAO will lease these NFT IPs to $APE holders / proposers
4. (ApeCoin DAO or Sister DAO Process) Use $APE to fund the development of these IP utilizations
5. (ApeCoin DAO or Sister DAO Process) Adopt $APE in these products

$APE will be the token that powers the operations and execution of every stage, all the way from initial NFT acquisition to the development of products leveraging these NFT IPs. This will create vital benefits for the ApeCoin ecosystem because it will lead to wider adoption and usage of $APE beyond its current applications.

Sister DAO to be governed by $APE holders with the following decision making:

• Whether specific NFT IPs should be rented to a specific proposer based on the suggested products or projects
• $APE funding for development of the suggested products or projects using the vault's NFT IPs
• Which NFT collections to buy / sell from in the vault’s future NFT acquisitions after the initial acquisition based on this proposal

This sister DAO would operate outside of the main ApeCoin DAO, but still consist of the same membership base with the only requirement being to own 1 $APE.

Supercharge IP utilization within and beyond the APE ecosystem

• This community-run vault will acquire, hold, and empower utilizing a number of NFTs from notable NFT collections across the web3 landscape. Benefits:
  • The first application of the acquired NFT IP to create products / services will set the first example of receiving $APE support to power the broader web3 ecosystem and other projects
  • The NFTs acquired via the vault can be used by the ApeCoin community without having to deploy capital and own the NFTs themselves, however able to utilize the IP to the holders’ preference of projects
  • Open cross-community dialogue and supercharge the educational process of ApeCoin DAO involvement

One of the many benefits of this vault’s sister DAO is its low-barrier entry of owning at least 1 APE to have governance and usage rights in this vault.

OVERALL COST

We propose allocating an initial budget of 750,000 ApeCoin from the DAO treasury for acquiring NFTs. The budget will be utilized as such:

1. 500,000 $APE: To purchase NFTs from various platforms and projects that align with the vision and values of ApeCoin, encompassing art, music, virtual worlds, gaming, and other web3 domains
2. 250,000 $APE: As a buffer for additional NFT purchases that may be needed and development of any related services to assist in initial vault maintenance

Create the Digital Art Movement Collection’, which will curate an NFT collection consisting of Yuga assets (BAYC, MAYC, BAKC and Punks), along with other notable NFTs (art and otherwise), to accelerate the advancement of the digital art movement globally.

Each Special Council member shall receive compensation as stated in AIP-1, or $20,833.00 of ApeCoin equivalent per month for the term.

ABSTRACT

The expiration of the APE Foundation’s administrator contract for the second time in 2022 has magnified the need to develop internal capabilities and avoid reliance on any external resource that could result in a single point of failure in the DAO. This AIP represents progress over perfection – the only thing possible in this messy and amazing world of decentralized governance we love.

Compared to the costs of the previous version of this proposal – the above expenses represent a savings to the DAO of $372,812 over the 3-month period. It’s important to note that there will be other expenses related to WG0, but their allocation will be based fully on specific budget requests made by WG0 Stewards and subject to the approval of the Special Council.

ABSTRACT

The nomination process for the ApeCoin DAO was established by AIP-137, which outlines a process for community members to apply for the Special Council. Applicants put themselves forward and nomination profiles were posted on Discourse for community discussion. Since November 28th, the community has been discussing, engaging, and providing feedback to the nominees. Now it is time to choose to vote for the 5 candidates who will move to the Special Council election vote that will take place from Dec 22-28.

ABSTRACT

Cartan Group LLC ("Cartan " or “we”), trusted and invited by the launch contributors, was elected by the community to administer the governance process for Ape Improvement Proposals ("AIPs ”) and the voting process, as outlined in AIP-1 and AIP-2, respectively.

Over the past 8 months, we’ve had the opportunity to serve the community and push forward the DAO’s long-term vision. We have talked to thousands of community members, made new friends, and have had an amazing time collaborating with everyone (more on Cartan’s initial scope of DAO operations and key accomplishments to date in Rationale Section below).

We have worked continuously to match the momentum and keep the workflow moving, which meant taking on additional responsibilities that were not part of the original scope. Ultimately, things needed to be done, so we rolled up our sleeves and delivered, and through operating this way, and listening to the community, we have connected with the nuances of what community members want delivered (more on expansion of scope of DAO operations and key accomplishments to date in Rationale Section below).

OVERALL COST

The community approved fees for the Initial Scope of DAO Operations were US$150,000 per month.

In order to address the Expanded Scope of DAO Operations, the monthly costs for this AIP is US$250,000 + 20,000 ApeCoin.

The reason for the split cost (between US$ and ApeCoin) is that we know it is important that we fully align with the community and commit to growing the ApeCoin ecosystem, thereby increasing demand, which is beneficial to all.
